Jack Grosko | an Arrowhead Gallery Artist
After a 36-year career as an Aircraft Structures Engineer, Jack retired in 2003 to pursue other interests in sports, nature and travel. Raised in the northeast and settled in the southeast during his professional engineering days, he was introduced to the southwest gradually through several vacation trips and photography workshops. As these travel opportunities became more frequent, his “casual” interest in photography turned more serious. This was certainly accelerated by his introduction to digital photography and computerized post-processing technology. These advances continued with recent improvements in various printing options such as canvas and metal to go along with traditional matted and framed papers. Jack displays his work in all three media.
Jack has been fortunate to have had many occasions to travel to foreign destinations as well as to many locations within the US but now focuses on the many opportunities afforded in southern Utah. So that he can be closer to the southwest geology that has captured his interest, he and his wife Shannon made the permanent move to Washington, Utah in May of 2017.
His full body of work is available at his website jgnaturescapes.com. His work emphasizes the beauty and amazement present in the natural landscape and light but also covers the diversity and uniqueness of the plants and animals that often go unnoticed. His website folders feature landscape vistas, various scenes, flowers, animals (large and small) and particularly display many of our amazing National Parks.
Jack hopes that you enjoy his photos and agree that “photography takes you to great places”. Certainly, the southern Utah area has many “great places” as the result of its unmatched geology and natural beauty. Recently, he has focused on Snow Canyon State Park and Yant Flat, both in the St. George area, and the local National Parks and Monuments but is quick to point out that the opportunities for great photography in this area of the world are limitless.
