Annette Trunnell | an Arrowhead Gallery Artist

Though Annette enjoys drawing and oil painting the human figure and portraits, she especially delights in still life. She loves the variety of line, light, and shadow. More important than the subject is the way it is affected by light.
She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but grew up in South Pasadena, California. Annette has lived in St George, Utah for thirty-three years and loves the color and vibrance of the desert landscape. She studied art and design at Pasadena City College and Brigham Young University where she studied with James C. Christensen, Trevor Southey and was mentored full-time by William Whitaker for her final two semesters at BYU. There she intensely studied figure drawing and oil painting.
Annette has published paintings in various church publications including the Ensign Magazine. Her painting “Together” was selected for a Janice Kapp Perry cassette cover in 1985.
Over the years Annette has done many murals, painted wildlife and diverse scenes on Utah picturestone for over ten years, selling to collectors from around the world. Her paintings on picturestone also won two Purchase Awards at the Mesquite Arts Festival. She has completed several portrait and painting commissions and continues to do so. Murals included four Great Harvest Bakery locations, Don Jose Restaurant, Friendly Feathers, and private homes.
After retiring Annette has, through classes with Community Education, discovered the magic of the colored pencil medium. She has sold still life drawings and portraits locally at Red Cliff Gallery and privately. She is a member of the Southern Utah Art Guild where she participates in the Colored Pencil Sub Club and shows. She hopes that people will find joy and a happy
