James Burke | an Arrowhead Gallery Artist

James (Jim) and his wife Martha by his side, with their dog, Maggie…leading the way, spend much of their time exploring North America in their RV to capture the beauty of the North American continent. The current count is two kids, three grand kids. Jim founded an advertising agency at 29 that was deeply involved in the growth of the cable television and Internet industry. Jim was very moved by the plight of those working to escape the twin towers on September 11 and spent eight years inventing/designing a system of lighting, signs, stair-step covers and markers that would provide failsafe glow-in-the-dark guidance to help people evacuate buildings in emergencies. Manufacturing began in earnest in 2008. Hospitals, schools, and government were their largest customers. Jim sold his company and retired just before Covid struck. Photography didn’t become a passion until the early 2000’s. Digital photography arrived at the same time as a trip to Paris and Italy and Jim was hooked. Jim has founded numerous photography clubs and has had his work recognized and awarded worldwide. Jim and Martha fell in love with Utah in 2022. They traveled throughout the state in four months of RV travel and exploration, and were taken by the beauty and the kind, thoughtful people. “We absolutely love living in Utah, and I am honored to be part of the Southern Utah Art Guild community!” The Arrowhead Gallery is a co-op of local Art Guild artists and is the perfect place to find well-priced original art for your home or office!
